March  - did it come in like a lion... I hope so!

I am sick of all things winter!  I am sorry about this late blog.  I had good intentions until things got in the way!

I have spent most of the time since the last guild meeting in and out of the hospital.   I had my surgery which went well until I had a little complication.  I am home  now but tired and won't be doing a ton of anything for the next 6 weeks... Thanks everyone for the well wishes!

But, enough about me.

The February Meeting

The February meeting turned out to be great!   Sue Fiddes did a workshop on Paper piecing and I have the pattern for you, somewhere... LOL.   Everyone loves her paper piecing workshops... Even me! I am going to try it.  You should too. looks fun. clicking on the picture should give you the 7 1/2 inch block. Let me know if it doesn't and I will email it to you.

I did a demonstration on English paper piecing making hexagons for a grandmother's flower garden.   I got some good comments on the workshop and I am hoping to hear that lots of people try it.

How to make a hexagon

Lyn Tomasich did a workshop on our library. I heard that it was very informative and that everyone enjoyed it.  We are so lucky to have someone so devoted to making sure we have lots of different things in the library to borrow. I heard someone say she was looking into getting some quilting templates.  I think that would be amazing!

March Meeting.

There is a workshop on Tuesday 18th of March, called "Flowers from Thread" running from 10am to 4 pm at 236 Camden Road in the Red Tree estates Community hall.  There is still room available if anyone wishes to attend. check with Sheila at sheilajlucas@outlook.com if you would like to attend. she will give you all the details.

Kathy Tidswell will be our guest speaker at the general meeting at 7pm in the Best and Bash auditorium. (I just had to say that, it makes me laugh).  I am looking forward to seeing some of her work. You can have a quick peak at what she does by going to her website, www.kathytidswell.com

Sue Fiddes has lots to share about the Quilt show and asked me to share this information.

Fat quarters, Show and tell and 50/50

I am hoping to be at the meeting and this month I may even bring a fat quarter.  The colour is green and who doesn't need green material for all kinds of things.

The tickets for the 50/50 draw are $2 each, or 3 for $5.  You get one ticket for each FQ you bring in.

I will be asking for help with the draws and I already have a new face in mind. (its a surprise!)

Show and tell is an improtant part of our meetings so I hope there is lots!

Stitch and Chat

I will not be doing a class again this month. I suspect everyone has lots on their plates preparing for the quilt show. But we will have a sit and chat on Wednesday.   You don't have to be a member or even have come to a meeting to join in so if you are missing your friends because you haven't been able to join this year, come to the sit and chat on Wednesday between 12 and 3. We will be glad to see you!  Here's the zoom link... https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84978346501?pwd=lG7ux3qgypUjB9nYgjey9d94zhYOYL.1

Challenges

Don't forget the Quilt show challenge to make a quilt to represent the theme of the Quilt show... Sewing in the rain!

And if you have a moment think about the presidents challenge.. "this is me".. I hope everyone has an opportunity to do both challenges but if not both, think about the Quilt show challenge first!

Here's a cute pattern you may want to make:
