 Yah! it's a NEW Year!

I wanted to share a brief update about my health. It's been a challenging year since August, but I'm finally seeing improvement with the help of a new medication. Taking some time to rest and step back from my usual activities in December has been beneficial. I appreciate your understanding and support during this time and look forward to working with you all in the coming months.

I'm hoping to stay healthy and fill this blog once a month to help you keep up to date with everything that is happening. My goal at the beginning of September was to build this guild to ensure the future of the guild.  We can't run a guild without you!

What a great time of fellowship and instruction we had at the December meeting. The potluck as always was wonderful, and I couldn't appreciate more the work the social committee put into making the food tables look so festive. The mini workshops were a wealth of new information and a great success. Sheila taught us all to make stars as gifts or for our tree. Jean and Janet worked hard to teach Sues' project and I know for a fact someone who has never paper pieced made the little stocking and was proud as punch with herself. Then Carol Gardner taught us how to add borders to a hexagon shape. Sarah will be busy stocking those 6 x 3 1/2" rulers!!!

Show and Tell

We had a fantastic Show and Tell session during our last meeting, filled with creativity and inspiration! A big thank you to everyone who shared their beautiful quilting projects. We're hopeful that pictures from the session will be up on our website soon, so stay tuned!

Show and Tell is a cornerstone of our community—it inspires both beginners and seasoned quilters alike. The more we share, the more we all grow and learn. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue to bring in our projects for everyone to see.

Special Project

Special Project

enjoy the holiday season. But now, as we head into the new year, I’m excited to see those November blocks making their way in! Let’s keep the creative energy flowing.

If you’re a member and want to revisit the notes for any of our special projects, feel free to email me at hqgexecutive@gmail.com, and I’ll send you the link.

Looking forward to seeing what you’ve all been working on!

Presidents Challenge

I’m excited to announce the new President’s Challenge: “This is Me”. The challenge is to create a small hanging, no larger than 18” square, that clearly depicts who you are. It can be anything that speaks to your personality, interests, or life story—something small, but meaningful.

I’ve got my idea in mind and will be starting soon, and I’m looking forward to seeing how you interpret this theme!

Let’s get creative and share what makes us unique!

Sue has agreed to run a workshop on the 18th of February on Raw Edge Self Portrait. You will need to bring the following:

  1. Print  a headshot on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper or we will take one there.
  2. Black permanent markers - thick and thin
  3. Pencil
  4. 1 m - Steam a Seam
  5. Pair of scissors

We will need a few ironing boards, and irons. Let sue know if you can bring those so we don't have everyone bringing them.

Fat Quarter Draw

The Fat Quarter draw is always a favorite, and this month’s color is white! Who doesn’t need a stash of white fat quarters? It’s such a versatile color that works in almost any project. I might even participate this time!

Don’t forget to bring your white fat quarters for a chance to win in the draw. Let’s see how many creative ways we can use this timeless color!

January Meeting Plans

Our January meeting will be extra special, as we’ll have the opportunity to see quilts from our very own members during Show and Tell! I’m really looking forward to seeing each presenter’s unique work and hearing the stories behind them.

In case of a snow day, we’ll switch to a Zoom meeting, so be sure to check your inbox for a link by 4 PM on the day of the meeting. This will be our first time hosting a Zoom meeting, so please be patient with us as we work out the kinks!

Stitch and Chat – Open to All!

Our Stitch and Chat is always open to all current and past members who want to join in. It takes place on the Wednesday following the main meeting, from noon until 2 PM (or whenever we stop chatting). Whether you’ve attended a meeting, haven’t joined yet, or simply want to sit with like-minded people, this is the perfect opportunity for some casual conversation and stitching time!
